Nick Marchand
Arts is a cornerstone of the British Council’s mission to create a friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and the wider world. Our programme utilizes the creativity of the UK to make a positive contribution to the people, institutions and governments of the countries we work in – and our regional work in the arts aims to broker opportunities between the UK and East Asia's fast-moving creative sector.
Prior to this role, Mr. Nick Marchand was Director of the British Council in Australia, and he has had a 25year career in the arts, in both Australia and the United Kingdom, as a writer, director, artistic director and producer. In the UK, he worked for the Royal Court Theatre, Almeida Theatre and Out of Joint. In Australia, as Artistic Director of Griffin Theatre Company, a founding board member of PlayWriting Australia, producer of Sydney Theatre Company’s Wharf 2 Theatre and Tropnest Screenwriters’ Centre at Fox Studios.
